About our speaker
Rev. Thu Nguyen, Director of Liturgy for the Diocese of Fort Worth and pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering prior to entering seminary formation. He grew up in Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Palacios, Texas. He was ordained on May 9, 1992 for the Diocese of Victoria and was later incardinated into the Diocese of Fort Worth.
He was appointed Director of Liturgy for the diocese in September 2020, to carry out Bishop Michael Olson’s vision for the liturgy according to the Roman Missal, in the right disposition and submitting to Christ. He serves as a resource for priests and liturgical staff to help them stay current on liturgical practice and to answer their questions about particular liturgical forms, such as Baptisms or wedding with multiple rites involved. Fr. Thu coordinates liturgical workshops that emphasize the roots and purpose of the sacred elements of the Mass. He also coordinates the major diocesan liturgical celebrations each year, including Chrism Mass, Red Mass and ordinations.
His former assignments include serving as the pastor of St. Jude in Mansfield and St. George in Fort Worth.
Fr. Nguyen studied at the Liturgical Institute of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake in Chicago. He is a current member of the Board of Directors of Southwest Liturgical Conference.
